The Rubinato is designed for tiny lettering and is extremely flexible, requiring a gentle hand for optimal control. Textured ridges allow this beautifully designed nib to hold more ink than typical extra-fine pens. Due to it's large size, the Rubinato may not fit in most standard holders; we recommend the Speedball Straight Holder or one of our adjustable oblique holders.

This nib is ideal for intermediate or advanced level calligraphers and is not recommended for beginners. Made from real copper. Nibs may have patina spots (does not affect performance). Also available in Gold.

I normally do ornamental penmanship with a hunt 101 or gillott. They say this does fine lines and requires a delicate hand. Maybe the ones I got were duds, but my lines are not as thin as most pointed nibs I own, and it feels slightly more flexible than a shcool nib. That aside it writes very smooth and may be nice to use for business penmanship.

I ordered this solely because of its low cost and that it looks interesting. The ridges do hold a lot of ink.

I mostly use nibs for calligraphy, and thus tend to lean more toward calligraphy-specific nibs, but this one was so cheap and fun looking, I figured I would give it a shot. I love how thin of lines it creates—definitely easier to make consistently thin marks with than other nibs—but it is a little bendy. Not sure how long it will last before my clumsy heavy hand grip presses too hard and snaps the thing! Fun to use though and worth the 50 cent investment, if nothing else for the thrill of a new tool.
