These rigid mats are essential for anyone involved in cutting copy and paste-up. As the knife (X-acto or utility) passes through the work the surface of the cutting mat underneath closes behind the knife, leaving a smooth surface which cannot deflect the blade in the direction of a previous cut. This mat is double-sided. Green on one side and black on the other side. It works like it's intended to work. It's thick and does not feel cheap and flimsy. I would buy this again, and I recommend it to all.
