Moon Palace Sumi Ink is excellent for both pointed pen and broad edge work. Gives wonderful hairlines, sits up a bit on the page with a bit of a shine when used with a pointed pen. Even smells right to fans of stick ink! Works well in the Parallel Pen. Waterproof when dry.

I love this sumi ink. Dries quicker than Kuretake sumi ink I think? And it’s a lovely, dark black

I've been using Speedball for a long time now, and often thought of trying out Sumi, and I'm now glad I have. It's the ink I use for all my practice now. Has a wonderful flow rate, and behavior with all the nibs I use now. Whereas, with Speedball, during a longer session, you seem to wind up building up a lot of dried ink on your nib, and start running into clogging unless you're watering fairly often, this ink doesn't give you that issue. And it finishes with a very similar look, if maybe just a little smoother. All and all, I think you'd be very hard pressed to come up with a better everyday ink for any sort of flex nib calligraphy.
