Italic Lettering, Basics & Beyond
- 11x17 Grid paper
- 18 or 20 ruler (rubber or cork bottom so it doesnt slide too much)
- Moon Palace ink or other, good for practice
- Round wooden double-ended penholder (1-5)
- Mitchell Pens (sizes #3, 2.5, 2 for this class; the whole set 0, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5, 4, 5, 6 if you plan to continue lettering) If you have 5 penholders, you can put a nib on each end.
- Drawing pencil (HB)
- Mars Staedtler eraser or other
- Paint rag
- Small water container to rinse pens (like a small butter tub)
- Mixing palette, or small containers to mix gouache/hold ink
- Water dropper bottle
- Portable Drawing Board (I have 3 extras)
- Speedball Textbook 23rd Edition (Optional)
- Optional helpful pens: My favorites are Mitchell pens; these allow you to work with multiple inks/watercolors. If you would like to bring Pilot Pens or Zig Markers, they are easier for beginners.
