Missal caps, versal letters, Lombardic forms - learn to draw these signature capital letter styles used for centuries in certificates, manuscripts, and historic texts. In this class, you’ll learn to execute a simple but stately missal capital alphabet. During the second half of class, you will learn techniques to build off the alphabet and transform the letters to take on new forms that fit your project and style.

  • Pencil
  • Eraser
  • Ruler or T-square (12” plastic)
  • Paper (plain or graph)

OPTIONAL SUPPLIES

  • Fine-pointed marker
  • Circle template sheet
  • Your preference of fine paper to render a finished design
  • Watercolor
  • Colored pencil
  • Whatever you like decorating your pieces with (we may not get that far in class)
