NOTE : I'm new to all this, just learning, researching, and trying to experiment with all this as I can! Leonardt #40 'Hero' - "Blue Pumpkin" I've heard a lot about these 'blue pumpkins' in a lot of the research I've come across, and learned there are 2 that look almost identical sharing that name. This one, a brighter more vibrant blue and with a 'collar' was a bit of a let down for me. It has moderate flex, medium stiffness compared to others, and holds surprisingly little ink despite being cleaned multiple times and with such reservoir grooves. It's not horrible, but the small collection I've already built up has several that out perform this Hero. Directly compared to the other "Blue Pumpkin", the Brause Steno, this one slightly out performs it. Marginally higher line variation, thicker swells, and a tad more ink retention, AND at near 1/4 the price, the Hero seems a better choice, but still not what I am looking for. Overall : mostly underwhelming but still usable. Backup bin. 3 STARS
I use this nib every day to write letters for my small calligraphy shop and it is my favorite go-to for basic writing. Great for beginners learning to use dip pen art as well1 Highly reccommend.
