The Gillott 290 is very similar to the Gillott 291, save for a few key differences. This nib is small and delicate, and can easily be damaged if too much pressure is applied. A light touch is required.

Produces exceptional hairlines, but is better suited for touching up work created by larger pens rather than script itself. Catches easily and will perform best on very smooth surfaces. This nib is ideal for intermediate or advanced level calligraphers and is not recommended for beginners.
This nib is included in our Copperplate Sampler

This nib behaves like a smaller version of a Hunt 108. When you master the Hunt 108, you will have a chance with the Gillott 290. With a light touch and using your arm to write or draw, you will love the superb detail you can achieve.

I'm a bit fan of fine lines on my drawings, and this pen is perfect for it. Pros: it's quite resistant, when comparing to other mapping nib I bought, highly flexible for contrast, almost like a brush. Cons: use it wisely, with a lil patience or draw small things, as for big ones you will want to be more quick and this pen is very likely to splish splash your ink. Love this pen.

purchased two of these after an artist i enjoy recommended them. they seem very nice and they do their job well but not great for beginners in the medium like myself, i think. very sensitive and requires focus.
