The Gillot 170 is a moderately flexible nib that is much finer than the Gillott 303 or 404. Although it is less flexible than the 303, it produces comparable hairlines and is much smoother, making it a better choice for use on textured papers. Also capable of creating wide swells with a little pressure and a controlled hand.
Great for small to medium Copperplate, suitable for Spencerian. This nib is ideal for intermediate or advanced level calligraphers and is not recommended for beginners.

Holy Smokes
Ok this is the best Nib I have found yet. This nib requires a light touch. It produces very very nice fine lines and huge swells. This is now my Go To nib of choice. If anyone knows of a larger ones of these with the exact traits of this nib, let me know. This thing is fantastic. Beware! Its super flexible! If your heavy handed it will teach you not to be.

This nib, although requiring a light touch, produces wonderful controlled line variations. A smooth nib to draw and write with.
