The Gillot 170 is a moderately flexible nib that is much finer than the Gillott 303 or 404. Although it is less flexible than the 303, it produces comparable hairlines and is much smoother, making it a better choice for use on textured papers. Also capable of creating wide swells with a little pressure and a controlled hand.
Great for small to medium Copperplate, suitable for Spencerian. This nib is ideal for intermediate or advanced level calligraphers and is not recommended for beginners.
This nib is included in our Copperplate Sampler

Great
I haven’t used this nib much yet, but it’s got a lot of winning qualities to it. It’s sturdy enough to take heavy-handed pressure, but fine enough to get those nearly invisible hairline strokes. It’s a better version of the Gillott 291 or 1290, in my opinion, as they have too much flexibility to them and thus don’t hold up well. A great Nib for people who know what they’re doing.
