Reggie Ezell - Pointed Brush
Session 1:
Students will learn how to use the Pentel Color Brush. They will see how a pointed brush achieves thicks and thins in contrast to the broad edge pen. They will be introduced to the straight, curved, and branching letterforms.We will begin writing on a grid pad made for calligraphy. Students will begin to learn how to self correct and positively critique their work.
Session 2:
The entire lower case alphabet will be covered. You will receive advice on practicing and spacing. Refilling the Pentel Color Brush will be demonstrated. A short quote will be assigned. Students will continue to learn how to self correct and positively critique their work.
Session 3:
Students will begin writing longer texts. Emphasis on developing spacing and rhythm will continue. Writing on good calligraphy papers will become a priority, as well as writing fluids other than ink within the body of the Pentel Color Brush. Upper case letterforms will be introduced. Students will continue to learn how to self correct and positively critique their work.
Session 4:
Students will do a finished piece. We will review all questions of letterforms and materials and refine their uses. Students will independently be able to self correct and positively critique their work.
