Reggie Ezell - Glorious Gilding
Session 1:
Students will learn how to lay yellow Kohlner Instacoll gilding base. They will also use Kohlner Activator. They will learn how to apply 23 karat patent gold leaf to the gilding base.
They will learn how to clean up and repair their gilding. Highlighting around the gilded image will also be covered. They will finish a simple project on good paper.
Session 2:
Students will learn how to prepare and lay clear Kohlner Instacoll gilding base and use Kohlner Activator. They will learn how to apply six different loose leaf metals to the gilding base. They will learn how to clean up and repair their gilding. They will do further highlighting around the gilded images. They will finish a slightly longer project on good paper.
Session 3:
Students will learn how to lay acrylic gesso in conjunction with Kohlner Instacoll to create a more raised, smooth gilding base. They will become more adept at using loose leaf metals. They will finish another moderate project on good paper.
Session 4:
Students will learn how to lay sculpted and textural gilding bases, and gild a variety of metals atop them. They will learn clean up and repair for these bases. We will go over suggested uses and examples. They will finish another moderate project on good paper.
