Youve practiced and practiced your Copperplate calligraphy and youve addressed a few envelopes and written some place cards. Now what? How do you move on to making a small art piece? In this class we will cover: - How to make changes to the basic Copperplate script to fit the feel of a quotation or text
- How to create flourishes to add movement and unity to a piece Layout, design and thumbnail sketches
- How to execute a final piece

SUPPLY LIST - Oblique or straight pen holder of your choice
- Pointed nib(s) of your choice
- Writing medium of your choice - suggested: gouache paints or watercolors if youd like color, sumi ink, walnut ink (for brown) or other acrylic calligraphy inks
I will be demonstrating how to use gouache paints as inks. Windsor Newton is my brand of choice. Lamp or Jet black is a must. Other colors are up to you, though white is recommended to purchase as well.
If using watercolors instead of gouache you should know that the results will be more translucent rather than opaque. But watercolors are a fine option! Choose tube watercolors, any brand. - Plastic paint palette if using gouache or watercolors
