Paper & Ink Arts
Capitol Bond 25% Cotton Practice Pad, 11" x 17"
A great pad for broad-edged pen practice. Has a nice tooth and holds good hairlines. Acid-free, 50 sheets.
Gilbert Bond has been discontinued and replaced with Capitol Bond. This was found and tested by Heather Martinez & Carol DuBosch.
"I tested many similar papers using a variety of wet media and writing tools to find a replacement for Gilbert Bond. There was no bleeding, feathering, or soaking through the paper with any of the wet media (gouache, sumi, watercolor, Higgins Eternal, and Pilot Parallel Pen fountain pen ink). The paper has a surface with enough tooth for smooth writing with the metal pens and brushes tested and is thin enough to view guidelines from behind. Capitol Bond folds well and would be excellent for bookmaking projects plus I was able to blind emboss without concern of punching through the paper. I highly recommend Capitol Bond paper!" -Carol DuBosch

Good for some pens.
Four +++ stars. I ordered this for a class, as recommended by a teacher. It is really nice smooth paper for my dip pen, using walnut or sumi ink. However, with my pilot parallel pen using the pilot cartridges, it does bleed. This could be because I'm a newbie, and I'm doing something wrong (pressing too hard?) If it doesn't bleed for Heather Martinez (whom I totally trust) and does for me, then something's off. Maybe another ink in my pilot pen would work? 'Nuff said.
