These traditional ruling pens are the kind used by Thomas Hoyer for expressive lettering. Made in Germany with nickel-plated steel alloy, they are are easy to adjust for creating various line widths. Fill the reservoir with a small amount of ink, turn the screw to adjust the blade separation to your desired width, and experiment with holding the pen at different angles in relationship to the paper to create unique marks.
Works best with fluid mediums such as ink, watercolor, fluid acrylics, and gouache that has been diluted with water to achieve a thinner consistency. Also available in black.
