Your pre-order must be placed prior to June 14. If you would like to preorder your supplies and pick them up at the conference we are happy to offer that service! Instead on the first day of the conference you can pick up your preorder in our onsite store!

The Artful Craft of Sketching by Janet Takahashi - Level: All Skill Levels
Tap into the power of sketching! Sketching is not only a handy tool to have in your creative repertoire, but it also can be a beautiful art form itself. We will focus on pen, ink, and watercolor techniques to create both quick and finished pen & ink drawings. Learn how different strokes create shapes, textures, and values and how to use watercolor to enhance your sketch. For a fun and immersive experience, learn how to use sketching to bring your artistic visions to life.
Class Supplies:
- Mechanical Pencil .05 mm
- HB and 4B pencil
- Pencil sharpener
- Eraser (plastic or kneaded)
- Several fine line markers, such as Sakura Pigma Micron pen 01, 03, and 05 in black
- Any white gel pen such as Sakura White Gelly Roll pen size 10, or Dr. Martin’s Bleedproof White
- One colored pencil, blue or any favorite color
- A simple watercolor set, including Burnt Sienna and Ultramarine Blue
- A mixing palette (or you can use the inside lid of your watercolor paintbox)
- A pointed round watercolor brush size 4
- Brush to be used as a mixing brush
- Small water container (to clean brushes while you paint)
- Paper towels
- 12” ruler
- Strathmore Series 400 drawing paper pad (regular or recycled) in 8”x 10” size or 9”x 12” size.
- 2 pieces of 140lb. Arches or Fabriano Artistico hot press paper cut to 7”x 9”
- 1 sheet of tracing paper
OPTIONAL Class Supplies:
- Zebra G nib
- Straight penholder
- Walnut or McCaffrey’s black ink
- Fountain pen
- Sepia colored Pigma Micron
- Gold or other colored metallic watercolors for embellishments
