This gum ammoniac comes prepared, liquid, and ready-to-use straight out of the bottle. Gum Ammoniac is used for flat gilding, and is fluid enough for use with nibs, ruling pens, and brushes to add illuminated calligraphy and other details to manuscripts, certificates, and other illuminated documents. Clean in color, and can be tinted with watercolor to help see where it has been applied. Instructions for use:
- Apply your gum ammoniac in your desired design.
- Reactivate the liquid by breathing on it to make it tacky. Leave for 2-3 minutes.
- Apply gold leaf, or loose leaf + a sheet of glassine, then use desired burnisher to transfer
- Clean tools in hot water immediately after use. Gum Ammoniac sets quickly and is difficult to remove once dry.
Tips:
- You may need two applications if your paper is highly absorbent.
- Can be used with gold, silver, copper, imitation gold, and variegated leaf.
- Refrigerate after opening. Keep product from freezing.
